Make one of these recipes or serve them to your paramour to feel “hot to go.”
“Hurry up, it’s time for supper! Order up, I’m hot to go!”
The undisputed song of the summer by breakout star Chappell Roan is both a YMCA-esque bop for children (with its repeat-after-me “H-O-T-T-O-G-O” lyrics) and an adult anthem about being, well, ready.
Yeah, like that. It doesn’t take any imagination when listening to “Hot To Go!” to decipher what Roan is talking about. She’s upfront about it in this upbeat smash that seems ready-made for blaring at a football stadium.
It’s no surprise this song is also popular with the preschool set, from its perfectly poppy synth and spelled-out title to these lines from the chorus:
Snap and clap and touch your toes Raise your hands, now body roll Dance it out, you’re hot to go
You can see why my kid, who also loves “Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes,” is drawn to this track.
But the song is really for the grownups. If it had come out in the ’90s, the CD would’ve had a parental advisory sticker on it and my mom wouldn’t have let it in her house.
If you want to be hot to go, here are several recipes that can help put you in the mood.
