Need some quick and easy apple desserts recipes? Try this Apple Crisp – just 20 minutes of prep for a mouthwatering treat the whole family will love!

An apple a day keeps the doctor away, goes the old saying! And the great thing is that apples are so versatile – and can be paired with so many flavors to create delicious combinations – that you’ll have no problem getting your apple fix!

Making desserts with apples is a great way to use up fruit that may otherwise have been left sat in the fruit bowl! With just a few ingredients you can create amazing dishes like Puff Pastry Apple Pie Turnovers or Apple Pizza.

Another really fun way to prepare apples for dessert is to create a dish that is similar to a blooming onion, but with apple!

By coring apples, making two circular cuts and then slicing crosswise (without cutting through the middle) you can create a bloom.

Apple Crisp

This recipe below is for a delicious, comforting Apple Crisp – but before we get started, let’s talk about the best kind of apples to use. Our top recommendations are:

  • Gala

  • Honeycrisp

  • Granny smith

  • Golden delicious

If you have a few different varieties on hand, then of course feel free to mix them!

As you are baking the apples, you will want to choose those that are crisp and tart as they fare best when baked.

Always peel and chop your apples before baking them in this dessert and try to ensure that all the pieces of apple are the same size. This will help them cook evenly. The best way to do this is to cut each apple into quarters, then each quarter into four pieces.

If your apples seem a little overripe and mushy, don’t worry! While they may not be great for eating raw, they’ll be just perfect for this Apple Crisp!
