Paula Deen Bread Pudding Recipe

This bread pudding recipe is simply delicious. It comes to us straight from Paula Deen!

There are few things more delicious than bread pudding. And when that bread pudding recipe comes from Paula Deen?

Say no more.

Bread pudding is a Southern staple, but it’s also popular in various forms around the world. It’s a spongey, moist, tasty dessert that apparently started out in England as a way to use old bread.

It’s evolved over time, of course, as so many of the best foods do.

This recipe calls for several common ingredients:

  • Italian bread
  • Brown sugar
  • Granulated sugar
  • Egg
  • Milk
  • Vanilla extract
  • Butter
  • Pecans
  • Brandy

You’ll be making sauce and the pudding, but the good news is the sauce relies on a few of the exact same ingredients, as well as the brandy. Use your brandy of choice.

Tools You’ll Need

To successfully make this recipe, you’ll need a couple of things:

  • Three mixing bowls
  • A 13 x 9 x 2 pan
  • A saucepan

You should be all set to make this custardy dessert from Paula Deen!

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  2. Grease a 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan.
  3. Combine granulated sugar, eggs, and milk in a bowl; add vanilla and pour over cubed bread.
  4. Let sit for 10 minutes.
  5. In another bowl, combine and crumble together brown sugar, butter, and pecans.
  6. Pour bread mixture into prepared pan. Sprinkle brown sugar mixture over the top and bake for 35 to 45 minutes, or until set. Remove from oven.

FOR SAUCE:

  1. Mix granulated sugar, butter, egg, and vanilla in a saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Stir until the sugar is melted.
  3. Mix in the brandy, stirring well. Pour over bread pudding.
  4. Serve warm or cold.
