Microwave nachos are the perfect meal in a hurry - quick, easy and totally delicious!

Whether it's a busy weeknight, you want a quick snack before going out at the weekend, or you need a quick and easy meal for a lot of people at short notice, microwave nachos are the answer!

It's the only dish we can think of that takes just minutes to prepare, but that just about everyone loves! And that's because microwave nachos are so versatile - all you need to do is prepare the basics, then put out the toppings for everyone to add their own!

Kids love microwave nachos, too, and the great thing is that they can make them right along with you!

Making microwave nachos is foolproof - there are no set quantities and no right or wrong way to prepare them.

You can use as much or as little cheese as you like and you can even choose which TYPE of cheese to use. It's fun to mix different varieties for different flavor combinations.

The only thing we would suggest is to not use hard cheese like parmesan, as it doesn't melt in the way you need to create the deliciously gooey topping that makes nachos so yummy.

Alternative Toppings for Microwave Nachos

The toppings listed in this recipe are the most popular ones. And whilst they taste great, you are by no means limited to them. There are so many other options to try, including:

Did you know: you can make coffee in the microwave, too!

Tips for Perfect Microwave Nachos

Be sure to spread out the tortiallas chips evenly, then sprinkle the cheese on evenly too. There's nothing worse than a big blob of cheese in the middle, surrounded by chips that are totoally dry!

Don't cook the nachos for too long in one go, especially after the first minute. Short bursts are better, because cheese can scorch incredibly quickly.

Eat your nachos just as soon as you've made them (once you smell them you'll want to do that anyway!). The cheese cools and hardens very quickly.
