Peanut Butter Honey Cereal Bars are a delicious quick breakfast or hearty lunchbox snack. And they only take about five minutes to make!

If you love making snacks out of cereal, or you just want to up your arsenal of on-the-go breakfast, you can also try these Reese’s Puff cereal bars, the best dang granola bars ever, these oatmeal raisin cookie granola bars, or these peanut butter honey granola bites.

When I go grocery shopping I always spend WAY too much time in the cereal and snack bar aisle. As a person that packs 3 big ‘ol lunches a day, 5 days a week, I try to have a variety of things I can grab and toss in lunch bags.

Homemade snack or breakfast bars are always preferred, though. Sort of like the difference between homemade cookies and store-bought cookies. You’ll totally eat both, and they get the job done, but if you had to choose, the homemade version always wins!

The same cannot be said of store bought cake in all cases. I think it’s the magical frosting.


These peanut butter honey cereal bars take only about 5 minutes of active work and are super easy to customize. I used rice squares cereal, but these also come together with any kind of flakes or even something like Kix. They are also a great way to use up remnants of a few boxes. You just need 6 cups total.

The add-in goodness can be easily changed up, too! I love to buy big bags of trail mixes -- varieties of dried fruit, nuts, the occasional M&M or chocolate chip. So I change up what I add to these. You can try banana chips, dried cranberries, blueberries, or cherries. Any kind of nuts, or even a few broken pretzel pieces!

This is one of my favorite ways to consume cereal. They make the perfect breakfast or energy-loaded snack. I just know you will adore these as much as cookies.

Okay almost as much.

Peanut Butter Honey Cereal Bars Recipe

    12 Servings


  • 3 1/2 cups Cereal, Rice or corn squares, flakes, clusters, etc.
  • 3/4 cup Add-Ins, Nuts, dried fruit, etc.
  • 1/2 cup Creamy Peanut Butter
  • 1/3 cup Honey
  • 3 tablespoons Butter


  1. Line an 8 X 8 or 9 X 9 baking dish with parchment paper.
  2. Place the cereal and add-ins in a large bowl.
  3. In a small saucepan. Heat the peanut butter, honey, and butter over medium heat until it all melts and is smooth. Stir a few times.
  4. Pour the hot mixture over the cereal and stir to evenly coat all the pieces.
  5. Firmly press into the prepared pan. You can use another sheet of parchment or plastic wrap to really press the cereal in there.
  6. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
  7. Slice into bars and wrap individually in plastic. 


  • These are best stored in the fridge if it’s hot outside.
