Thanksgiving leftovers making you sweat? Try these Monte Cristo slider rolls using a recipe from Texas Pete.
Never have leftovers gotten more shine than the day after Thanksgiving. It seems like the real Black Friday special is that for one day, leftovers receive the same level of excitement as the night before. (Be honest, by that Saturday you’re kinda over it.)
Hot sauce company Texas Pete wants to tap into that. This year it’s launching a 12-day “hot sauce advent calendar” for Thanksgiving leftovers. (Though just to be clear, few leftovers are still safe to eat for that long.) As part of the rollout, the company is sharing a dozen recipes that utilize your likely Thanksgiving leftovers and its sauces. That includes these Monte Cristo slider rolls.
Texas Pete also shared its Spicy Cranberry Wings recipe with us, another option that just might become a holiday leftover staple.
I don’t know about you, but ham sliders are already an essential part of my Thanksgiving leftovers repertoire. But the beauty of turning the simple breakfast snack into a Monte Cristo slider is that it retains all the core flavors of your standby while presenting something more interesting and memorable for yourself and any holiday guests. It’s the difference between your in-laws silently snacking on country ham and cheese slapped on some bread and enlarged eyes with impressed sounds as they chow down.
And after all, the real mission here is remove all leftovers from this kitchen before they go bad. I’m willing to bet the novelty of this Monte Cristo slider rolls recipe will be far more effective at getting the job done. Plus, it’s still a recognizable comfort food.

Ham, cheese, rolls, and cranberry sauce decimated? Great success. That’s what this recipe promises. Your relatives will have to do the rest.

I have to admit — we keep Texas Pete in our pantry and I’ve used the hot sauce for years, but I didn’t know the company also made a honey mustard sauce. This, despite living maybe 30 minutes from its North Carolina headquarters for a dozen years. I guess that’s the grip its hot sauce has on the region. Anything else was relegated to the shadows.
