Ingredients

Sandwiches

  • ½ Cup Texas Pete® Honey Mustard Sauce
  • 12 dinner rolls or Hawaiian rolls
  • 12 slices ham
  • 12 slices Swiss cheese

Egg Batter and Cooking

  • 2 eggs
  • 3 Cups water
  • 3 Cups flour
  • 2 Tablespoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ¼ Cup butter

Garnish

  • ½ Cup Texas Pete® Honey Mustard Sauce
  • ¼ Cup powdered sugar
  • ½ Cup cranberry sauce

Instructions

  • Assemble the Sandwiches: Slice the dinner rolls in half and spread the Texas Pete® Honey Mustard Sauce on both cut sides. Layer each roll with ham and Swiss cheese, then close the sandwiches.
  • Prepare the Batter: In a mixing bowl, combine the eggs, water, flour, baking powder, and salt. Whisk until smooth and fully incorporated.
  • Cook the Sandwiches: Dip each sandwich into the prepared batter, coating all sides evenly. Melt a portion of the butter in a nonstick or well-seasoned pan over MEDIUM heat. Cook the sandwiches in batches until golden brown and crisp on both sides, adding more butter between batches as needed. The cooked sandwiches can be held in a low oven set to 175°F.
  • Finish and Serve: Dust the sandwiches with powdered sugar and serve immediately with Texas Pete® Honey Mustard Sauce and warm cranberry sauce for dipping.
