If you don’t have any plans for your Memorial Day menu, you do now.
Can I just tell you, I freaking love this burger. There’s something about a savory and hearty burger that is simply irresistible, isn’t there?
The juicy beef sandwiched between two toasted bun halves and topped with a variety of toppings make for the base of so many recipe possibilities!
This recipe is one that will totally change your world.
Now, let me prep you real quick, there are a good amount of elements involved with these burgers.
There’s the burger mixture, the miso glaze, Asian cucumber pickles, and some toppings.
I know, I know, that sounds a little intimidating… But REALLY, HONESTLY, it’s not.
The recipe is super easy, you just have to follow the steps as they are outlined.
It starts with the Asian cucumber pickles that are literally the easiest things in the world to make and they will keep in your refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
They take 15 minutes to make, then you just seal them up and cool them while you make the burger with the glaze.
The miso glaze imparts this rich and heavenly flavor in the patties, making the meat truly sing.
Not to mention the flavors pair wonderfully with the Sriracha and Chinese five spice in the patties themselves.
Finally, you get the creaminess of simple mashed avocado as well as the sweet bite of the grilled yellow onions.
When you take a bite of this juicy, delightful mess, you literally will not want to stop to speak a word, let alone take a breath.
It’s a whole new take on the classic burger that will make everyone ooooooo and ahhhhhh with pure delight!
Miso Glazed Burger Recipe
Ingredients
For the Burgers:- 2/3 pound Ground Chuck
- 3 teaspoons Sriracha Chili Sauce
- 1 teaspoon Salt
- 1 teaspoon Black Pepper
- 1 teaspoon Chinese Five Spice
- 2 Sesame Seed Buns, split and toasted
- 2 tablespoons Miso Paste, (yellow or white fermented soybean paste)
- 2 tablespoons Mirin
- 2 tablespoons Soy Sauce
- 1/2 tablespoon Brown Sugar
- 1/2 cup Rice Wine Vinegar
- 1/2 cup Water
- 1/3 cup Granulated Sugar
- 1/2 tablespoon Kosher Salt
- 2 cups English cucumber, thinly sliced
- Mashed Avocado
- Grilled Sweet Onions
- Crushed Red Pepper Flakes
Directions
- Preheat grill.
To Make the Pickles:
- Add vinegar, water, sugar, and salt for the pickles to a medium saucepan. Bring mixture to a boil, stirring occasionally, over high heat.
- Remove pan from heat and add cucumber slices. Cover with a double layer of paper towels, pressing down until the towel is completely wet with the liquid.
- Let rest for 10 minutes.
- Add cucumber slices to a mason jar, then fill with liquid discarding any remaining liquid.
- Seal and place in the refrigerator until ready to serve.
To Make the Burgers:
- In a large bowl, combine beef, Sriracha, salt, pepper, and Chinese five spice in a medium bowl. I like to use my hands to combine the meat mixture.
- Divide meat mixture in half and form into patties.
- In a small bowl, whisk together all ingredients for the glaze. Set aside.
- Place burgers on the grill, cover, and cook until browned on the bottom, about 3 to 4 minutes. Flip patties and brush with miso glaze. Cook for 3 minutes, turn again, and brush the top and sides with the miso glaze.
- Grill until patties are cooked through to desired temperature (it took me an additional 4 to 5 minutes). Continue to flip every minute or so, glazing between each flip, for the remaining cooking time.
To Assemble the Burgers:
- Spread a thick layer of mashed avocado on the bottom of each toasted half of the bun.
- Place the burgers on top, following by grilled yellow onion slices, Asian cucumber pickle slices, and a pinch of red pepper flakes.
- Top with the other halves of the buns and serve immediately.
