Sides for Soup

Here’s a list of our favorite sides for soup, including everything from satisfying breads to deep-fried veggies. Which will be YOUR favorite?

A warming, hearty soup can be satisfying all by itself – but sometimes you need something to accompany it to make it feel more like a complete meal.

The right sides for soup shouldn’t be too heavy, so you don’t feel over-full. Instead, they should complement the soup, maybe bringinging in additional elements like proteins or carbs that the soup itself might be missing.

Here are some great ideas to try!

Fluffy Buttermilk Biscuits

Really – what could be better? Fresh from the oven, warm buttermilk biscuits are an obvious choice as a side for soup and give you something to mop up those last few tasty drops with!

Best of all, they don’t take as long as you might think to prepare – just 10 minutes at the most.

If you need to avoid gluten, try these Gluten-Free Garlic Herb Biscuits instead.

Chicken Fajita Flatbread

Pretty much any kind of bread goes well with soup – but this one takes your meal to another level. It’s a great way to use up cooked chicken and is full of flavor.

Whilst this recipe uses store-bought flatbreads, why not go the extra mile and make those too? This Soft Flatbread recipe gives lovely, fluffy results, with very little hands-on prep time!

Another great vegetarian option are these White Bean Quesadillas, but if your preference is for something meaty, try these Bacon Cheddar Mini Quesadillas instead.
