Need to know how long to roast a turkey breast? We’ve got you covered!
Roast turkey is the perfect main meal for either Thanksgiving or Christmas!
There’s nothing like that succulent, juicy meat smothered in rich, flavorful gravy and you will be bound to have more than just one plate!

The key to delicious roast turkey is cooking it correctly so that the juices are maintained, ensuring your turkey is moist and tender.
While roasting a whole turkey is great for a special occasion, you may sometimes fancy a roast turkey breast instead, without the hassle of preparing and brining a whole turkey.
Whole turkeys not only take up a great deal of space, but they normally take a while to defrost too, so there is quite a bit of thought that goes into preparing them.

Turkey breasts are much easier to work with and you can either buy whole boneless turkey breasts, butterflied turkey breasts or a turkey breast joint.
While we do recommend a bone-in turkey breast joint for the roast turkey recipe below, you can use boneless if you prefer. Here are cooking times for both options:
-
Approx. 25 minutes per pound at 325 degrees Fahrenheit for boneless turkey breast
-
Approx. 30 minutes per pound at 325 degrees Fahrenheit for bone-in turkey breast joint
Do remember that oven calibration is so important here and the above are just guidelines.
Did you know — you can also sous vide a turkey breast!

While you may set your oven to the above temperature, if you have not calibrated it in some time, it could be cooking at higher or lower temperatures. This can result in overcooked or undercooked meat! Always use a meat thermometer to test doneness.
Whether you are cooking boneless or bone-in, always allow your meat to rest before carving! If you do not let your meat rest, all the flavorful juices will run out the moment you slice into it, leaving it dry and lacking in flavor.

In fact, you can cook a boneless turkey breast in a slow cooker, but it can take much more time. As a rule of thumb, a 4-6-pound turkey breast will require 5-6 hours on low, whereas a 6-10-pound turkey breast will take 8-9 hours. This is a great option if you are busy throughout the day.
The important thing to remember with turkey is that the internal temperature should be anywhere between 155-160 degrees Fahrenheit, bearing in mind that resting it will allow it to increase up to another 10 degrees.
Serve your roast turkey breast with turkey neck gravy — yum!
