Need to know how long to roast broccoli? We have the answer – plus tips to make sure it cooks evenly throughout!
We’re not exaggerating when we say that roasted broccoli is the epitome of veggie perfection (well, maybe we are a little!). But deliciously crisp broccoli florets absorb the flavor of the olive oil, salt, pepper and any other seasonings you cook them with, transforming the flavor in a whole new way.
Try this versatile side dish served alongside steak, roasted meats, or fish and we can guarantee it’s a recipe you’ll come back to often.

The key to perfecting your roasted broccoli is the amount of time you roast it, as you’ll want to ensure maximum crispiness with the lovely charred bits on the top, without the broccoli being too moist.
Don’t be alarmed the first time you make this and the broccoli appears ‘burnt’ on the broccoli tops – this is exactly the finish you want; those roasted, crispy parts hold all of the flavor!
The best way to ensure the florets are perfectly crisp is by cutting them into small pieces. By doing this, you can reduce cooking time and guarantee that each piece will be equally crispy.

Another important tip to perfect your roasted broccoli is to turn it half-way through cooking! Turning each piece means it will cook properly throughout, not just crispy on one side and soggy on the other.
Here’s an easy way to make perfect roasted broccoli:
1 bunch of broccoli
2-3 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
Salt & pepper
Pre-heat the oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit.
Wash the broccoli and dry well.
Chop the broccoli into small pieces and discard the stems. To release any moisture that may be in the broccoli, spin it in a salad spinner or pat between two pieces of paper towel.
In a bowl, toss the florets with olive oil, ensuring they are coated well. Add a little more if you feel that the florets are looking a little too dry.
Line a baking sheet with foil (this saves time while washing up!).
Spread the broccoli evenly across in a single layer and sprinkle with salt and pepper.
Roast for 10 minutes on one side, then turn each piece roast for a further 10 minutes.
Serve alongside your main dish.
A squeeze of lemon on top of the roasted broccoli is a delicious way to finish it off!

Why not try vamping up your broccoli quiche by substituting the cooked broccoli for this delectable roasted broccoli instead?

If you want to cook up a large batch of roasted broccoli ahead of time – particularly if you want to have some cooked broccoli on hand to use in other dishes – you can freeze it!
When you’re ready to use it, just thaw the florets and use them directly in your recipes. Roasted broccoli that has been used from frozen doesn’t quite retain its original crispiness, but will stick pack a punch of flavor!
