Hey Food Fanatic Fans. I thought I’d share a super easy recipe with you. One that involves chocolate… and peanut butter. I know right. I can hear the collective sigh as you all daydream about chocolate and peanut butter.

Chocolate and peanut butter go together perfectly. It’s a match made in foodie heaven. There’s just something about this combination that makes people swoon. Me included. Chocolate peanut butter shortbread barshello! I’ve been known to whip up chocolate and peanut butter cookies at 1 am just to satisfy a craving. It’s just how I roll.

I was in the middle of planning a big trip so I wanted to make something quick and easy. That way I could have one piece, then flit off to Seattle and leave the rest of the batch in hub’s hands.

Seemed like a good idea at the time. Best laid plans and all that jazz. I had good intentions. Then I ate half the batch while taking photos. Oops, I did it again.

Now good luck getting that earworm out of your head today. It will be stuck there all the live long day. And likely into the evening. By 1 am you will likely want to bop me one.

So since you’re up anyway, you should totally whip up a big batch of this bark. In fact this plan is sounding better and better every minute. I think you should run off into your kitchen and start whipping up some bark immediately. It’s okay. I’ll wait. I mean how else are we going to sharesies right?

Okay, okay, I’ll lighten up, you don’t have to share. Just make two batches and send me one. You can ship it to "cravings of a lunatic at chocolate lovers lane, in peanut butterville". It’s okay, they know me by now.

I hope you get your bark on. There’s something about that first bite into a piece of bark. That perfect snap it makes when you bite into it is sublime. Every bite involves layers of peanut butter and chocolate. It’s a seriously indulgent moment, and one you should savour. You should try my marble bark with pistachios too.

Hope you enjoy this as much we did!

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons Margarine Divided
  • 1 1/2 cups Milk Chocolate Chips
  • 1 1/2 cups Peanut Butter Baking Chips
  • 1/2 cup Reese’s Pieces

Instructions

  • Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper. Set aside.
  • Take out two small microwave-safe glass bowls.
  • Add 1 tablespoon of shortening to each bowl.
  • Add the milk chocolate to one bowl. Add the peanut butter chips to the other.
  • Place each bowl, one at a time, into the microwave. Heat for 1 minute, then remove and stir. Heat for approximately 30 to 60 seconds more, making sure to stop the microwave every 15 seconds to check it and stir until it’s smooth.
  • Now grab two large spoons and start to drizzle each flavour on the parchment randomly. You just play with your food at this point. Have fun with it. Once it’s started to fill in all the gaps give the cookie sheet a tap on the counter. Then take an offset spatula, or even a knife and start running it through the chocolate and peanut butter to make any pattern you like.
  • Toss the Reese’s Pieces on top randomly.
  • Pop the cookie sheet in the fridge for about 30 minutes. Remove and break into pieces.
  • Serve with a big old chocolate and peanut butter loving smile!
