Mixed drinks are the perfect addition to any dinner party, BBQ or just a Friday evening treat. From sweet, fun and colorful mixed drinks to more sophisticated options, there are so many different recipes that it's easy to find a combination to suit any guest.

Mixed drinks are also known as cocktails, so knowing your basic mixed drink names will help you understand any cocktail menu, as well as being able to search for recipes to make your own

Let’s have a look at some of the most popular mixed drinks plus some fun variations! 

Cosmopolitan Martini: 

This martini offers the perfect balance of sweet and sour and is a beautiful pinky-red color that looks great. This will be the star of any party!

For this recipe, you will need lemon flavored vodka, triple sec, cranberry juice and lime juice. One of our favorite variations of this recipe is this Prickly Pear Martini  which features cactus fruit, also known as prickly pear.

Prickly pear tastes similar to watermelon, but it also has some underlying notes of bubblegum - without all the artificial taste. Sounds unique, right? Well imagine that paired with pear liqor and vodka - an explosion of flavor served up in a martini glass. This is sure to wow your guests! 

Daiquri:

Daiquiris are delicious served strained or frozen, especially if you are soaking up some sun while enjoying them!

Daiquiris consist of rum, citrus juice and a sweetener of some sort. However, there are so many fruity variations of daiquiris you can get as creative as you like.

Strawberry daiquiris are a classic and loved across the world, but one of our favorite spins is to create a Coconut Strawberry Daiquiri .

If you love Pina Coladas, you will fall in love with this drink as it pairs Pina Colada flavors with that of a Strawberry Daiquiri.

This is the perfect drink for a Valentine’s dinner or at a BBQ! We love to top ours with a hearty squirt of whipped cream, a maraschino cherry and some cute, colorful sprinkles. 

If you are not a fan of coconut or strawberry flavors, you may want to check out this Banana Daiquiri instead, which pairs perfectly with dark rum! 

Screwdriver:

This classic mixed drink is a simple one - just vodka and orange juice! While we love a classic, we love to put a twist on them, so we love this Rumdriver.

This delicious cocktail features rum as opposed to vodka (although feel free to use vodka if that’s your preference!), orange juice and pineapple juice. 

Bloody Mary:

If you are looking for a fun Sunday morning mixed drink, look no further than the Bloody Mary.

Now, this cocktail is quite like no other! It features tomato juice, vodka and Worcestershire sauce as a base. Traditionally celery salt, Tabasco sauce and lime are added to fuse the flavors, but if you love to spice things up even more, as we do, then add a dash of horseradish!
