Homemade Fried Rice just reminds me of sitting at home on a Friday night with my husband, having a movie marathon and just being able to relax together. I have no idea why it reminds me of this either, maybe it’s the movies? Or maybe I just watched too many episodes of Friends.

Regardless, Homemade Fried Rice is one of my favorites. I used to eat it from a local restaurant up until I went gluten free, then I quickly learned how easy it is to make at home. That means if I get a craving late at night, it’s simple to make and enjoy. This comes in handy considering we live in the middle of nowhere. We don’t even have pizza delivery in my neck of the woods.

This particular Homemade Fried Rice is extremely versatile. It can be adapted to fit your taste; for instance, you can use chicken, pork, beef, or really any type of meat you prefer to it. Of course, you can also leave it meat free as well. We almost always add chicken to ours; it tends to be the favorite.

When making Homemade Fried Rice, soy sauce is the key ingredient, aside from the rice of course. The soy sauce is how you will control the color and the flavor of the dish. I typically being with a small amount and work up to the amount that I like to taste. It’s always a mix between being not salty enough or too salty, it’s important to find the middle ground.

We just recently introduced our daughter to Homemade Fried Rice and she was instantly hooked. I’m glad too because my son is still on the fence with it. I hope she’s not nearly as picky as he is.

This particular dish is perfect with egg rolls or your favorite Asian side dishes, like peanut noodles or Asian chicken salad cups.
