There's not much about your standard classic chocolate chip cookie recipe to complain about, but that doesn't mean it can't get even better...

The recipe on the back of that famous yellow bag is the one I used for years, but over time I tweaked and fussed and made a couple changes that make me very happy. A kick of sea salt at the end brightens the flavor, and adding a bit more dark brown sugar deepens the flavor.

This chocolate chip cookie recipe is so good and comes together so quickly there is no reason not to make them all the time!

Sea Salt Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe

    36 Servings

Ingredients

  • 2 sticks Butter, softened at room temperature
  • 1 cup Dark Brown Sugar
  • 1/2 cup Sugar
  • 2 Eggs
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons Pure Vanilla Extract
  • 2 1/4 cups All-Purpose Flour
  • 1 teaspoon Baking Soda
  • 1 cup Semisweet Chocolate Chips
  • 6 Dark Chocolates, chopped
  • 1 1/4 teaspoons Sea Salt

Directions

1. Preheat the oven to 375°F.

2. Cream the butter and sugar together in a large mixing bowl, or with the paddle attachment of your standing mixer. Add the eggs and vanilla and mix well.

3. Combine the flour and the baking soda and add to the butter and sugar mixture in three batches, mixing to combine well after each addition.

4. Add the chocolate chips, the chopped chocolate and the sea salt, and stir to combine.

5. Scoop the batter using a tablespoon or small ice cream scoop in rounded tablespoons on your cookie sheet and bake for 10 minutes, rotating the cookie sheet once halfway through baking.
