How to Make a Blooming Baked Potato

When you’re tired of the same old, boring side dishes but still want comfort food, it’s time to make something old new again.

Let’s learn to make Blooming Baked Potatoes.

Take 1 russet potato and slice 1/4 off the top. Carefully cut a border ½ inch away from the skin making sure not to cut through the bottom of the potato.

Continue cutting smaller and smaller circles, all the while never going through the bottom. Keep cutting until you have 3 circles about 1/2 inch inside one another.

Sliced Potato

Flip the potato over onto the flat side, and cut “petals” all around and all the way through, leaving an oval in the middle intact. It is important to cut through the potato so each layer can blossom once baked. Check out the video for the details.

Now bake for 30 minutes at 425°F.

In a medium bowl, mix together 1 tablespoon chopped parsley, 2 cloves minced garlic, 3 tablespoons butter, 1/4 teaspoon salt, and a pinch pepper. Coat the potato and get as much as you can in between each layer.

Bake for another 30 minutes.

Blooming Potato

Sprinkle 2 tablespoons shredded mozzarella and 1 tablespoon parmesan cheese over the top and in between the nooks and crannies.

Then bake for another 5 minutes or until cheese turns a light brown.

Pull apart each piece of the potato and enjoy!
