Homemade Pizza Rolls full of sausage and cheese, please! Dinner never looked so good - or so easy!

My family loves pizza night, just as much as anyone. In fact, my guys would probably like it if we could have pizza night 3 times a week. I like pizza, don’t get me wrong, but weekly is a bit much for me. If I am going to have it weekly, I like to switch it up. Caprese PizzaRoasted Garlic Chicken PizzaBBQ Chicken Pizza…You get the idea. Not your traditional pepperoni pizza. It is up for debate in my house whether you can truly call the previous mentioned kinds pizza. Such purists in my house!

I have come up with a compromise though. Use the traditional pizza toppings my family likes, but turn them into something slightly different. This is where these roll-ups come into play. I took their favorites (pepperoni and sausage), mixed in some cheese and sauce, and rolled it up inside a crescent roll. Fun little twist that made the whole family happy.

For this recipe, feel free to use store bought crescent rolls, or you can this recipe for Homemade Crescent Rolls (use 1 of the balls). Either way, it is a super quick and easy dinner, that can be changed up many different ways to match your families taste. If you like mushrooms and black olives, add them. You don’t like sausage? Leave it out. Seriously, these can be filled in any way that you want. The possibilities are endless!

Serve with a small side salad full of crunchy, leafy greens, and you have a complete meal. I also served with a little pizza sauce on the side for dipping, because my family is kind of obsessed with condiments, but that part is up to you. I hear Texans like to dip their pizza in ranch dressing, so that might be a decent option too.

Homemade Pizza Rolls Recipe

    4 Servings

Ingredients

  • 1 can Crescent Rolls
  • 1/2 pound Italian Sausage, crumbled and cooked
  • 1/4 cup Pepperoni, chopped
  • 1 cup Mozzarella Cheese, shredded
  • 1/2 cup Pizza Sauce

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F. Spray a pie plate with non-stick spray.
  2. Roll out crescent roll dough into a rectangle about 5x9 inches. If using the tube, press the seams together.
  3. In a bowl mix together sausage, pepperoni, cheese, and pizza sauce. Spread onto rolled out dough, leaving a 1 inch boarder along the edges. Roll the dough over the meat mixture, like you would a cinnamon roll. Pinch closed.
  4. Slice into 8 equal portions. Place the roll ups on their side in the pie plate.
  5. Bake for about 15 minutes until the rolls are golden brown. Serve with additional pizza sauce for dipping if desired.

Notes

You can also use my homemade crescent dough for this recipe. Use 1 ball of dough in place of the tube of store-bought dough.
