Ingredients
  

  • 2 pounds Ground Beef
  • 2 cloves Garlic chopped
  • 8 ounces Tomato Sauce
  • 2 tablespoons Red Chili Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Ground Cumin
  • 1 teaspoon Oregano
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon Ground Cayenne Pepper
  • 1/4 cup Masa Harina
  • 15 ounces Red Kidney Beans drained and rinsed
  • 15 ounces Dried Pinto Beans drained and rinsed

Instructions
 

  • Place ground beef in a pot and toss in the garlic.
  • Cook over medium heat until browned.
  • Drain the excess fat.
  • Pour in the tomato sauce, chili powder, cumin, oregano, salt and cayenne.
  • Mix well, cover and then reduce the heat to low.
  • Simmer for about 60 minutes, stirring here and there.
  • After an hour, place the masa harina in a small bowl.
  • Add a half cup water and stir with a fork.
  • Dump the masa mixture into the chili.
  • Mix together well and taste/adjust the seasonings.
  • Add more masa paste and /or water to ensure the chili is your preferred consistency.
  • Add the beans and simmer for 10 more minutes.

Notes

Masa Harina is comprised of corn flour and found in the Mexican food section of most supermarkets.
