  • 1 box White Cake Mix or vanilla cake mix
  • 1 cup Water
  • 1/2 cup Vegetable Oil
  • 3 Egg
  • 1 1/2 cups Creamy Peanut Butter
  • 1 8 ounce package Cream Cheese softened
  • 2 cups Powdered Sugar
  • 3 8-ounce containers Whipped Topping thawed, divided

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, whisk together cake mix, water, oil, and eggs, until mixture is just smooth.
  • Pour batter into a lightly greased 9x13-inch baking pan.
  • Bake at 350°F for 25-30 minutes, or until edges are golden and a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean.
  • Remove to a wire rack to cool completely.
  • Meanwhile, in a large mixing bowl, beat peanut butter, cream cheese, powdered sugar, and two containers whipped topping, until smooth and creamy.
  • To assemble trifle:
  • Roughly chop or break apart the cake into 1-inch cubes or bite-sized pieces.
  • Scatter 1/3 of the cake pieces into the bottom of a large trifle dish.
  • Spoon half the peanut butter mixture over the cake in the trifle dish.
  • Scatter another 1/3 of the cake pieces over the peanut butter layer.
  • Spread with the remaining container of whipped topping.
  • Scatter the remaining cake pieces over the whipped topping layer.
  • Spoon remaining peanut butter mixture into the trifle dish.
  • Sprinkle with cake crumbs or graham cracker crumbs, for garnish, if desired.
