How to Make Limoncello

Ingredients
  

  • 4 large Lemon organic (if using smaller citrus fruits, increase the quantity)
  • 3 cups Vodka or use another strong alcohol with little flavor
  • 2 1/2 cups Granulated Sugar
  • 2 1/2 cups Water

Instructions
 

  • Pour your alcohol of choice into a large, clean jar.
  • Thoroughly wash the lemons (or citrus fruits of your choice) and remove the zest, carefully scraping away any white pith.
  • Place the pieces of lemon zest into the alcohol, then seal the jar.
  • Allow the mixture to rest in a cool, dark place for several hours (at an absolute minimum) but preferably for a few days and ideally up to a week.
  • When you are ready to bottle your limoncello, prepare the sugar syrup by heating the sugar and water together in a saucepan, stirring constantly, until the sugar has melted. Allow to cool.
  • Line a funnel with a coffee filter and strain the alcohol into bottles, leaving space for the sugar syrup.
  • Add a little sugar syrup. mix, then taste. Keep adding the syrup - a little at a time - until you reach the level of sweetness you prefer.
