Homemade fresh tomato pizza sauce is made with simple ingredients but has all the full flavor. You’ll feel so good after trying this that you won’t ever go back to sauce in a jar.
Heat the olive oil in a large pan over medium-high heat. Lower the heat to medium and add the crushed red pepper and garlic. Stir for about 1 minute being careful not to let the garlic burn.
Add remaining ingredients and stir occasionally until the mixture begins to bubble.
Lower the heat and let the mixture simmer uncovered for 1 hour.
Remove the mixture from heat and allow it cool.
Using a small food processor or immersion blender, puree the mixture until smooth.
Notes
Depending on your stove and tomatoes, you may need to let it simmer for longer. The longer it simmers, the thicker the sauce. Look for most of the liquid to be evaporated.
Makes about 1 cup of sauce which is enough to generously cover 1 large pizza.
