Memorial Day is the unofficial start to summer, and oh what a glorious time it is! Flowers are in bloom, the trees are green, and the kids are being loud outside instead of being loud inside. What a win!

Did you know it's also the second biggest day for barbecuing after Independence Day, with Labor Day following close behind?!

Memorial Day deserves the best summer recipes to wow your guests and please their palates, while also honoring one of our most meaningful holidays.

If you’re like me, you devote yourself to grilling all three days of the Memorial Day holiday weekend. The Memorial Day picnic is not a one day affair!

You got the meat covered, but what about side dishes and desserts?! You need a menu and a plan. Here’s where we can help.

Here are a few of our favorite summer recipes! They're guaranteed crowd pleasers that will kick your summer started off right!

As you celebrate, join us in taking a moment to honor our fallen heroes and to remember why we are gathering. It makes the celebration even sweeter.

1. Oatmeal Cookie Blueberry Peach Cobbler Recipe

My favorite berry mixed with my favorite stone fruit?! Yes please! If you can stir things in a bowl, then you can make this recipe. It requires a lot of stirring, so maybe do a few arm stretches beforehand. Or get an immersion blender with a whisk attachment to save yourself from wearing out and getting noodle arm. In all seriousness though, this epic cobbler recipe is about to be a new summer favorite. Don't forget the scoop of ice cream on top!

2. Roasted Corn and Tomato Salad Recipe

You won’t believe how incredibly easy this roasted corn and tomato salad is to throw together. It’s full of fresh veggies and a ridiculously simple vinaigrette. You can save time by using canned or frozen corn. I prefer fresh, but that’s not always a possibility. No need to stress! This is one of those great summer recipes that steals the show whether at a Memorial Day picnic or on any given weeknight served on the back patio along with your favorite burgers.

3. British Baked Beans Recipe

Everyone knows how much the Brits love their baked beans. The difference between their beans and ours is the sauce. British baked beans tend to be more savory than sweet. In addition to the sauce being different, they’re usually meatless as well. I’m a carnivore, so I still add bacon to mine, but this recipe is completely vegetarian so it's a great way to be able to serve delicious, savory baked beans to all of your guests! Baked beans go perfectly with all of your favorite summer recipes, pairing especially well with anything from the grill.

4. Miso Glazed Burger Recipe

Who doesn’t love a good burger?! It’s one of my all-time favorite things to eat. This is a delicious take on a classic with an Asian inspired twist. It’s crunchy, sweet, tangy, and a little spicy. The miso glaze paired with the Asian cucumber pickles is an out of this world combination. Good luck getting those pickles on the sandwich without eating them all first!

5. Strawberry Pimm’s Slush Recipe

It is my humble opinion that every barbecue should have some sort of slush drink on hand. It’s cold and refreshing and embodies everything about summer. This strawberry Pimm's slush recipe tastes like actual summer! It takes just a few ingredients, a blender, and a few minutes to toss together and you’ll be slurping slushies ‘til sundown!
