Steamed Mussels Recipe

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds Prince Edward Island Grown Mussels
  • 2 tablespoons Olive Oil
  • 1 tablespoon Garlic, crushed
  • 1 cup Crushed Tomatoes
  • 1 cup White Table Wine
  • 1 Lemon, juiced
  • 1 tablespoon Italian Seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon Butter
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black Pepper, to taste

Directions

  1. Rinse and drain mussels. In a large pot, heat the oil on medium heat.
  2. Add garlic, crushed tomatoes, wine, lemon juice and Italian seasoning.
  3. Bring the sauce to a simmer and cook for 10 minutes.
  4. Add the butter and mussels. Toss and cook covered for about 5 minutes or until mussels open up. Discard any mussels that did not open.
  5. Season with salt and pepper to taste if needed. Great served with bread or pasta.
