Tiramisu Cupcakes

These tiramisu cupcakes are pure decadent bliss! The cupcakes are filled with espresso, chocolate liqueur and mascarpone cream with espresso frosting.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 stick butter (softened to room temperature)
  • 6 tablespoons mascarpone cheese (softened to room temperature)
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 whole egg whites (reserve two of the yolks for the filling)
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 6 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 2 whole egg yolks (reserved from the separated cupcake eggs)
  • 1/2 cup mascarpone cheese (softened to room temperature)
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons hot water
  • 1 tablespoons instant espresso powder
  • 1/4 cup Godiva chocolate liqueur
  • 1 stick butter (softened to room temperature)
  • 1/2 cup mascarpone cheese (softened to room temperature)
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons hot water
  • 1 tablespoon instant espresso powder
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 small square chocolate (as needed for topping)
