Swedish Meatballs

Can't Stay Out of the Kitchen


Swedish Meatballs is a succulent and delicious recipe made with homemade meatballs using Italian bread crumbs and nutmeg. The sauce uses meatball drippings (if you have any), beef broth, evaporated milk and dill weed for spectacular flavors. Serve over hot, cooked, buttered noodles.


  • 2 1/3 lbs. lean ground beef
  • 1 cup italian bread crumbs
  • 1/2 cup evaporated milk
  • 1 tsp. garlic salt
  • 1/4 tsp. nutmeg
  • 2 tbsp. instant dry milk granules
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup chopped onions
  • 1 cup evaporated milk
  • meatball drippings plus enough canola oil to equal 1/2 cup
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 2 1/2 cups beef broth
  • 1 tsp. dill weed
  • 1 tsp. black pepper
  • 1 tsp. sea salt or kosher salt
  • 1/2 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1 lb. dry noodles
  • butter for nooodles
  • dill weed (for garnish)
  • salt and pepper (to taste)
