Korean-style Soy Garlic Chicken Wings


These chicken wings are coated in a cornstarch and flour batter, fried twice, and then brushed with a soy, garlic and ginger glaze that will make you wish you had made a double batch


  • 2 dozen chicken wings (I used wing pieces, not whole wings. )
  • 1/4 cup onion (diced)
  • 3 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup mirin
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar (dark or brown)
  • 1 tsp honey (*if you don't have honey, you can omit)
  • 1 tbsp fresh ginger (grated)
  • 2/3 cup flour
  • 3 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2/3 cup water
  • oil for frying (canola, soybean, or peanut oil)
