Food For The Gods is a classic Christmas treat in the Philippines. I'm not exactly sure where the name was derived from, but basically it's a butterscotch blondie that includes dates and walnuts.

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup butter (melted)
  • 1 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup corn syrup
  • 1/2 teaspon vanilla
  • 2 eggs (beaten)
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon powder (optional)
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup walnuts (chopped)
  • 1 cup dates (chopped)

Directions

  1. Pre-heat oven to 325ºF and line a 9″x13″ pan with foil. Combine butter, sugar, corn syrup, vanilla, and mix well. Beat eggs separately...
