Growing up I decidedly did not understand the hype surrounding chili. I'm pretty sure I truly believed it tasted like dirt. Spicy dirt, specficially.

Luckily since then I have grown in more ways than one and now genuinely love trying new chili recipes of just about every variety.

With most of the country currently shrouded in a deep blanket of cold, snow and ice, is there any food more perfect for the season than chili?

Here I am sharing 9 of our best chili recipes perfect for a cold winter's day. Spice them up or spice them down, but make sure to give them a try.
