M&M’s Challenges Status Quo With All-Female Package

Ryan Nadolny | Ryan Eats Everything

Green, Brown, and Purple M&M’s take center stage to lift up and celebrate the women in our lives and all of their accomplishments.

Not since the introduction of Purple, the newly minted purple Peanut M&M's character, has the world been in such an uproar over candy.

It seems that when they're not toying with our emotions over the prospect of launching espresso M&M's, they're stirring the pot.

Who knew that people would find the decidedly awesome new all-female M&M's package so threatening? (I could have seen it coming.)

To that I say, unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ve likely noticed a major societal change. We’re out to destroy the patriarchy and break all the rules.

So, get on board or get left behind and I love that M&M's is getting on board!

What M&M’s Are Female?

Women all over the world have been challenging the status quo and they are long overdue for some recognition. We’re here to lift up the ladies in our lives and honor their fight, their resilience, and their strength.

Only the the three female “spokescandies” are featured on the front of the new packages as well as on the inside of the limited edition packs.

The three female M&M's characters include Green, Brown and Purple who marks the first female peanut M&M's character.

You can find the speciail all-female packsavailable in milk chocolate, peanut, and peanut butter varieties of the legendary chocolate-coated candies.

What Are the All-Female M&M’s Pack?

The apparently controversial all-female M&M's packs boast eye-catching artwork, with the three candies upside down over the words “Supporting Women Flipping the Status Quo.”

The campaign aims to honor women that are changing the world by challenging outdated gender roles and ideas.

"Women all over the world are flipping how they define success and happiness while challenging the status quo, so we're thrilled to be able to recognize and celebrate them” said Gabrielle Wesley, chief marketing officer at Mars Wrigley North America.

Wesley continues, "And who better to help us on that mission than our own powerhouse spokescandies Green, Brown and Purple?"

Why We Love the All-Female M&M’s Packaging

$1 from every pack sold will be donated to organizations that are empowering women, such as She is the Music and We Are Moving the Needle.

The all-female M&M's packs are available now and runs until the end of March with M&M donating up to $800,000 to the various programs.

Back in September 2022, M&M added the Purple candy to the mix with the purpose of "representing acceptance and inclusivity."

According to the brand, she promotes "self-awareness, authenticity and confidence." It only makes sense to see Purple now taking center stage.

As the father of four fierce and brilliant girls, uncle to three nieces, and proud member of the organization He for She, this is a cause that hits close to home.

Gender equality doesn’t take from anyone, rather it gives a chance to everyone. Be the change for the women in your life.
