Monster cookie dough pretzel sandwich mummy bites are completely adorable! These no-bake treats are fantastic for the Halloween party table - everyone will love them.
Like most children, I was scared of monsters as a kid. But unlike most children, it wasn’t a fear of furry, four-eyed, fanged critters that lived under my bed or in my closet.
It was of the bad guys on Forensic Files. Because my parents toooootally thought it was okay to let their young child watch a show about real-life murderers.
So every time it was on and I heard Peter Thomas start to introduce the sleepy, quiet, Mayberry-esque town erupted by a gruesome murder, I ran into the room and glued my innocent child eyeballs to the TV to watch the morbid events unfold before me. And after 30 minutes of self-inflicted torture, I went to bed and dreamed that bad dudes would break into my room and I would end up having my life narrated by Peter Thomas.
AKA, toooootally normal stuff for a 7-year old to think.
So I did what any frightened child would do. And hint: it didn’t involve a boycott of Forensic Files. Oh noooo, that’d make too much sense. It involved hanging a wind chime in my bedroom window so if an intruder were to hypothetically break into my bedroom window, the serene glisten of wind chimes would awake me before my impending death. Because the sound of glass shattering apparently would not be enough of a wake-up call.
Anyway, for awhile I let my wind chime be my barrier between bad guys breaking in so I could continue to be a creepy kid and watch my murder show. Now monsters don’t scare me as much. I mean, if anything I kind of wish vampires were real because the Cullen family had some seriously lucky genes for being glittery all the time. Do you know how much money I could save on body glitter if I normally glistened?!
Since Halloween is this month (yay!) and ghouls and goblins are soon to be haunting our homes, I figured I’d whip up some tasty and silly monster bites for kids and adults alike to munch on. Nothing defeats a monster better than to eat him, and thankfully these adorable mummy pretzel bites are as delicious as they are harmless. The only place they’ll be hiding is in your tummy!
