Turkey burgers are often thought of as the healthier alternative to a regular beef burger, but rarely thought of as an equally delicious alternative...we here at Food Fanatic would like to change that!

This turkey burger recipe is intentionally basic to give you a delicious foundation for whatever toppings you crave, because if the burger itself isn't good, the toppings aren't going to save it from disappointment, no matter what they are.

Ground turkey can dry out - to prevent that, we used a mixture of dark meat and light meat and added a twist - shallots cooked quickly with soy sauce to add both a deeper flavor and some additional moisture. This finished turkey burger recipe is juicy and has a crave-worthy flavor even without all the delicious burger extras you can pile on top!

Turkey Burger Recipe

    2 Servings

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon Unsalted Butter
  • 1 shallots Shallot, minced
  • 1 tablespoon Soy Sauce
  • 12 ounces Ground Turkey, combination of dark and light meat
  • 1 teaspoon Black Pepper

Directions

1. Melt butter in a small pan over medium heat. Add shallot and cook, stirring occasionally to prevent browning and burning, until shallots are soft and translucent, three to four minutes. Add soy sauce and cook until most of the liquid evaporates. Remove from heat to a small bowl and let cool for approximately 15 minutes.

2. Mix ground turkey, pepper and shallot mixture and combine thoroughly but gently. Form two equal sized patties, an press down to create a shallow indentation in the center of each patty. This will prevent the burgers from puffing and rounding in the middle during cooking.

3. Cook burgers over medium heat on a grill or in a grill pan, six to eight minutes per side, until cooked through. Remove from heat and let rest for one to two minutes before serving with your favorite burger toppings.
