The perfect cookie for coffee-dunking! This Spiced Biscotti with Maple Glaze is exactly what you need to accompany all your hot beverages this fall. Great for gifting, too!

Every time I make biscotti I wonder why I don’t make it more often. Like… biscotti is something I should have in a happy little cookie jar on my counter top ALL THE TIME. I drink an awful lot of coffee, and nothing can jazz up that morning cup like a cookie that is completely acceptable for dunking. In fact, biscotti is made for dunking. It’s the reason it exists.

Spiced Biscotti has all the spices we love about fall - the cloves, cinnamon, and ginger that make us flip over things like Pumpkin Spice Lattes. It’s not the pumpkin. It’s the spice! And these unassuming little biscotti cookies are loaded with it. They are also perfect for accompanying a PSL. I am an advocate for keeping a stash in the car for emergency coffee cookies.

Also! If you are not a coffee drinker, Spiced Biscotti is great with tea.

If you are looking for fun homemade gifts, especially for a coffee lover? Biscotti in a cute little tin is an excellent idea. In fact, if anyone wants to ship a tin to me that would be excellent. Speaking of shipping, Spiced Biscotti ships easily!

If you have questions about shipping baked goods I have all the answers in this article I wrote on How to Ship Baked Goods. It’s pretty popular this time of year and comes in handy.

Last year around this time I made you guys some Gingerbread Biscotti. There’s also this Cardamom Biscotti Recipe that I really like -- it has dried cranberries and white chocolate chips! But if you want something delicious and simple, and packed with the fragrance and flavor of fall, Spiced Biscotti with Maple Glaze is exactly where it’s at.

Bonus! You probably have all these ingredients hanging around in your cabinet. Cookie win.

Spiced Biscotti with Maple Glaze Recipe

    30 Servings

Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cups All-Purpose Flour
  • 1 teaspoon Baking Powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Baking Soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon Ground Cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon Ground Cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon Ground Ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 cup Granulated Sugar
  • 2 large Eggs, Plus 2 large egg yolks
  • 1 teaspoon Pure Vanilla Extract
For the Maple Glaze:
  • 1/2 cup Powdered Sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Pure Maple Syrup
  • 1 tablespoon Milk, More to reach desired consistency if needed
  • pinch of Salt

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, cloves, cinnamon, ginger, and salt.
  3. In another large bowl beat the sugar, eggs, and egg yolks. Stir in the vanilla. Then pour the flour mixture over the eggs and sugar.
  4. Stir until the dough JUST comes together. It will be slightly sticky. With floured hands, divide the dough in half and shape each half into a log that’s about 2” wide and 12-13” long. Place each log onto the prepared baking sheet, 2-3” apart, pat smooth and flatten the top. You’ll have 2 rectangles side by side that are about 1/2 -3/4" thick.
  5. Bake for 35 minutes, turning the pan halfway through.
  6. Let the biscotti cool for 10 minutes, and then cut each "loaf" diagonally into slices that are about 1/2” thick.
  7. Place the slices cut side up on the baking sheet (still lined with parchment paper) and bake for an additional 15 minutes.
  8. To make the glaze, stir together the powdered sugar, maple syrup, milk, and salt until smooth. You can add another teaspoon or 2 of milk to reach your desired consistency if needed. Drizzle the glaze over the cooled cookies and let it set up.
  9. Serve with coffee!
