Spaghetti and Meatballs Recipe


  • 1/2 cup olive oil
  • 10 cloves garlic, 9 cloves smashed and peeled, one clove minced fine
  • 84 ounces crushed tomatoes, (three large cans, i like muir glen or san marzano)
  • kosher salt, to taste (about two tablespoons, divided)
  • 2 ounces fresh basil, (about 1 cup) roughly chopped
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano, (or to taste)
  • black pepper, to taste
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/2 pound ground veal
  • 1/2 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 pound ground pork
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 1/2 ounces parmesan cheese, grated
  • 1 1/2 cups bread crumbs, (i prefer panko style)
  • 10 sprigs fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 pound dry spaghetti
