Mushroom Burgers on a Stick Recipe
Dionne Baldwin | Try Anything OnceMushroom Burgers on a Stick are mini meaty burgers. Great as an appetizer or snack.
My other half is known amongst our family and friends for his burgers. He makes burgers that are so good, they don’t need a bun.
I mean, they’re really good with cheese and all the trimmings, but they don’t need it.
They’re so flavorful that I’m willing to get my hands dirty to help make them and that’s saying something! Fortunately he doesn’t take me up on my offers to dig right in and help when he mixes the meat and the seasonings.
I’m sharing his burger recipe with you today for these mushroom burgers on a stick.
He’s really flattered when I brag about the burgers he makes. In fact, whenever I go on and on about them, he offers to make them for me - even if he’s going to work that night and won’t be home to enjoy them.
That's true love, I tell ya.
My favorite way to eat the full-sized burgers is with a slice of cheese melted on top and wrapped in iceberg lettuce. No buns.
The second choice is in a bun with mushrooms. Mushroom burgers are beyond delicious.
I especially like Cremini mushrooms with a burger. They're a bit meatier, with a stronger flavor that melds perfectly with the well-seasoned ground beef.
We love a good burger. I lost count of how many times I’ve been craving a burger, but something else is in the works for the evening meal.
We could try a breakfast burger in the morning instead, but I have another idea. Wouldn’t it be awesome if we could satisfy our burger craving and enjoy what you had planned for dinner? I think so.
Mushroom burgers on a stick can satisfy that burger craving and still leave room for dinner. The fun toothpicks are totally optional but they really are cute, aren’t they?
These also make a great appetizer for a party. You can easily double the recipe and have enough mini burgers for a crowd.

Mushroom Burgers on a Stick Recipe
Ingredients
- 1 pound Lean Ground Beef
- 1/2 cup Panko Breadcrumbs
- 2 teaspoons Onion Powder
- 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder
- 1 teaspoon Garlic Salt
- 1/2 teaspoon Sea Salt
- 1/2 teaspoon Coarse Ground Black Pepper
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire Sauce
- Soft Italian Breadsticks
- slices of Aged White Cheddar Cheese
- 8 ounces Cremini Mushrooms
- Appetizer Sticks, Or long toothpicks
Directions
- Combine the beef, bread crumbs, onion powder, garlic powder, garlic salt, sea salt, pepper and Worcestershire sauce in a large mixing bowl. You can mix the beef with your hands or with a spoon.
- Preheat a large pan on medium high heat and lightly coat with cooking oil.
- To sauté mushrooms at the same time you can preheat a medium sized pan on medium heat and coat with cooking oil.
- Form little meatballs and flatten them to resemble little mini burger patties. Cook them in the large pan until fully cooked.
- Slice each mushroom into 3-4 slices, depending on the size of the mushroom. Sauté in the same pan until cooked, but still tender.
- Preheat your oven to 400°F.
- Place the mini burgers on a baking sheet lined with a silicone baking mat or parchment paper to prevent them from sticking.
- Cut slices of cheese into small squares and put them on top of the burgers.
- Bake for 3-4 minutes or just until the cheese is melted.
- Cut bread sticks into big enough pieces to cover the burgers then cut those sections in half right down the middle.
- Grab one of your fancy toothpicks and start assembling your mushroom burgers on a stick, starting with the top “bun”, mushroom slices, burger and the bottom “bun”. Push everything down so the mini burger can stand on its own.
- Enjoy!
