Philly Cheesesteak Pizza Recipe

Philly Cheesesteak Pizza brings the glorious flavors of Philadelphia to your home. All in one hearty pizza.

My family has eaten pizza from New York, New Jersey, Chicago and Philadelphia. We have tried thin and crispy pizza, thick and doughy crusts, deep dish pizzagrilled pizza and pizza filled with gooey cheese and spicy pepperoni.

You get the point. We have eaten plenty of pizzas.

But my husband and son have declared this Philly cheesesteak pizza as the best they’ve ever eaten. Unfortunately, my daughter has not tasted this pizza, as there has been none left for her both times I have made it this month.

This pizza is really easy to make, and with sauce, cheese and steak, a full meal in itself. It covers all four food groups, right?

I typically serve pizza with a salad just to get some extra veggies in there, but my husband and son would much rather eat an extra slice of pizza than any veggies. Since a slice is very filling, I like to eat something lighter on the side.

By using store made dough and homemade sauce I have stocked up in the freezer, this pizza comes together very quickly. I buy thin-sliced ribeye steak that is perfect for making cheesesteaks, but also perfect for making this pizza.

My family loves a blend of cheddar and mozzarella cheese but provolone and Monterey jack cheese would be delicious too. Feel free to make your own homemade pizza dough if that is your thing.

To make the best pizza possible, here are some helpful hints:

  • Make sure the oven gets preheated for at least 20 minutes before the pizza gets baked.
  • Do not overcook the steak. When sautéing it in the pan, make sure to leave a little pink. It will finish cooking in the oven.
  • Layer the steak and cheese by using cheese, steak, then more cheese. The steak will stay juicy and the cheese will melt perfectly.
  • Cool the pizza a few minutes before cutting into it. This will keep the pizza from falling apart.
  • Don’t be afraid to serve this pizza with knives and forks!

This pizza does come with a warning. If you make it too often, your kids’ friends will be visiting your house all the time.

It has happened here and to tell you the truth, I really don’t mind!
