Remember those delicious Orange Julius drinks that you can get in the mall? Yeah, well, I took that delicious flavor and made you all some Orange Julius Fudge. You’re welcome!!

My kids did something funny last week. They watched Saved by the Bell. I don’t think they realized that it was an “old” show.  I was afraid to tell them that I grew up loving this TV show for fear that they would turn it off.

Although, admittedly, I think they were confused about why I was sitting and watching the show with them. I don’t seem to care about Wizards, Austin and Ally or Good Luck Charlie.

Of course, as I was watching the show little things hit me, like how much I loved hanging out with MY teenage friends. And one of the things we did was go to the mall and buy some Orange Julius drinks. Anyone remember those? I can still taste them in my mind. Weird?

I'm not sure why taste memory works like that, but I'm not complaining. After all, it prompted me to re-create those flavors in this amazing fudge!

Hopefully by now I’ve convinced you that fudge isn’t just for Christmas (remember this Cookies and Cream Fudge recipe?). I don't know why anyone would need an excuse to eat something so amazingly creamy and delicious, to be honest.

This fudge recipe has orange zest in the base of the creamy fudge. I topped it with some white chocolate morsels, and a mixture of zested orange and granulated sugar. OMG, guys. Seriously.

The orange zest really puts this recipe over the top in terms of orange amazingness. It might not give me a brain freeze while I try to be cool at the mall, but it's soooo good!

Want to impress someone? Someone who loves the 80s as much as I do? Make this fudge!

Orange Julius Fudge Recipe

    32 Servings

Ingredients

Fudge Base:
  • 3/4 cup Unsalted Butter
  • 3/4 cup Heavy Cream
  • 2 cups Granulated Sugar
  • dash of Salt
  • 2 1/2 cups White Chocolate Chips
  • 7 ounces Marshmallow Fluff
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons Orange Extract
  • 3 large Oranges, zested
Garnish:
  • 1 cup White Chocolate Chips
  • 2 large Oranges, zested
  • 1 cup Granulated Sugar

Directions

  1. Prepare garnish first by mixing orange zest (for garnish) with granulated sugar, using a fork. Mix in the white chocolate chips (not melted). Set aside.
  2. In a large saucepan, melt butter with cream, sugar and salt. Cook and stir over medium heat until mixture starts to boil. Once boiling, stir continuously for 5 minutes. Remove from heat.
  3. In a large mixing bowl (with a stand mixer or hand held electric), add white chocolate morsels (not melted), marshmallow cream, orange extract and orange zest. Pour hot, boiling cream mixture over all of this and using the whisk attachment beat for about 1-2 minutes. The chocolate will melt and become creamy.
  4. Pour mixture into a 9-inch square baking dish lined with parchment paper.  Immediately press the garnish mixture over the fudge. Refrigerate and allow to set about 2 hours. Cut into small squares.

These are very tasty when eaten cold! ENJOY!
